crafty repurposed Christmas gifts

There are many things I love about essential oils, coconut oil and its multitude of uses and anything glass. I am also all about repurposing and recycling. My daughters give me beautiful candles from Bath & Body works but when they are all used up, I cannot bear to throw them away. They came in very handy when I decided to whip up some sugar scrub for the holidays.

The glass candle jars come perfectly clean, just peel off labels, soak ones that are stickier and remove any remaining glue with an orange cleaner like Nature's ultimate (formerly known as TKO).

Pinterest holds unlimited recipes but I just went simple choosing plain white sugar filling any jar about 2/3rd full then add melted coconut oil mixing with a knife as you pour. I added  Saje lavender and lemon essential oils and mixed in but the choices are endless and basically to ones personal taste or should I say smell ;)
There you have it, add the lid, a pretty label or bow and give as a lovely gift. Be sure to make one …

Hometalk anyone?

Hometalk is a fantastic site to find so many DIY tutorials and ideas, do you check it out often or have a page? I have only recently starting putting some of my work on the website as it is a great supporter of the Fab Furniture Flip Contest. Perhaps I should start using it more ;)

Feel free to leave your link in comments below, I would love to stop by!

Minted "Take A Seat" FFFC November challenge **PIC HEAVY**

November's Fab Furniture Flippin Contest challenge is called "Take A Seat" sponsored by Minted. This is going to be the most challenging contest for me as of yet as I am stepping out of the box and going to attempt to do a major upholstery project. Minted supplied fabric for each contestant, how fabulous! THANK YOU!

Minted has endless fabrics, I managed to get it down to 8 choices and chose this one in the end called "not your mamas paisley" in teal of course.
The chair I plan to do is a chair I bought at an estate sale of a family friend. I love the shape, swivel, softness this chair provides but it just is not current in my d├ęcor. It spends all its time hidden under a pretty throw. It is time to let it shine on it own.
I was so excited to open my Minted package, even to Canada it did not take long to arrive. My sweet daughter dropped it off along with a Tim Horton's pumpkin spice tea, delicious!  I threw the material over for a test run.... oooo pretty
